RAW x Leica
I recently finished reading "Steal like an Artist" by Austin Kleon. This book challenged me to challenge myself to be inspired and write, read, create more.
So naturally after the Raw x Leica exhibition, I asked myself: What does raw mean to me?
To put it simply - raw is real, authentic, genuine, unedited and transparent. Raw can be wonderful and unpleasant but it also has the potential to lead into rewarding value.
I see this with something as simple as a RAW file in photographic terms. An original file can be wonderful and unpleasant and it has the potential to become amazing and sharpened through post processing when you bring out the best features in the photograph or touch up the lighting..
My experience at the RAW exhibition felt like a raw experience. I walked in not knowing anyone. I was so nervous as I walked in, my heart beating fast, my stomach was aching from the anxiety. But I managed to pull through, enjoyed the art, learnt something new and walked out with a few new friends. Sometimes the best days come when you least expect it.
